Office Policies

It is our policy to speak privately with our patients at each visit. Although we encourage our patients to involve their families in their lives and health care decisions, much of what we discuss will be kept confidential and not shared with parents or guardians.

Our goal is to provide you with the most personalized attention and comprehensive care possible. Appointments are scheduled carefully and for appropriate amounts of time. There is no "overbooking" and there are no walk-in appointments, though we do our best to accommodate those who are ill or need to be seen on a certain day. For this reason, you must provide a 24 hour notice of cancellation to avoid being charged for the visit.

The office is generally open from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Additional weekday hours can occasionally be scheduled. Our physicians are on-call for our patients 24 hours a day. On the very rare occasions when we are unavailable, we are covered by another adolescent medicine physician.

At your initial visit we will take a comprehensive personal and family health history and do a complete physical exam. Please bring a copy of the patient's growth chart and immunization record (available from his or her pediatrician or previous healthcare provider), and copies of any recent laboratory results. Please also print and bring the New Patient Information Form. Initial visits typically are scheduled for 60-90 minutes. Annual physicals are scheduled for 45 minutes, and follow-up and sick visits are typically 15-30 minutes long.
